Context
Marysville Primary School was established in 1870 and is
a unique, small school with well-kept grounds, excellent
play equipment and shade trees. Our grounds are
relatively small, but we make full use of the adjoining
shire oval and town park. Marysville is 90 minutes from
Melbourne across the magnificent Black Spur. It is
located 10 kilometres from the Maroondah Highway, on
the Northern slopes of the Great Dividing Range, in close
proximity to Lake Eildon, Lake Mountain and the
Cathedral State Park.
We have a current enrolment of 40 students with three
full time teachers and one full time Business Manager.
We have visiting on alternate weeks MACC (Art Van) and
MARC (Library Van). The school operates with three
classrooms, with the 2011 classes being divided into
Preps/grade1's, grades 2/3/4's and grades 5/6's together.
Our multi grade structure allows students to progress at
individual rates with tailored teaching to meet their
needs. Small class sizes and individually focused
teaching benefits all students.

We have active Jnr School Council that support RSPCA Cup Cake Day, Biggest Morning Tea
Cancer Council, Hot Lunch Day for students, Hot Milo Day again for students and a dedicated
team who regularly look after our school chooks.
A feature of the school is its openness and the interaction it has with the community. The parents
support and are actively involved in a variety of activities including Perceptual Motor Program,
Skiing, Reading, Footy 7s, Fundraising and all aspects of the school's life where their expertise
can be utilised. Parents, staff, students and the community regularly work together for mutual
benefit, with the school's annual Art Exhibition and biannual Fete providing a huge focus.
Parents are encouraged to be actively involved in all aspects of the school.
